VIP Boxing Promotions latest event was at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, topping the bill was Haroon Khan brother of two weight world champion Amir Khan (who was in attednance) going up against Gyula Dodu, who himself was coming of the back of a knockout victory in his last outing.
Khan showed great ability and some wicked combinations which hurt Dodu on various occasions eventually finishing him off in round two with a great body shot. Khan now moves to 7-0 and is looking to get back out as soon as he can.
Blackburn local Shakeeb Ali was back in action against tough journeyman Ibrar Riyaz. Ali looked impressive dominating each round with his great punch picking ability and high work rate. This was enough for Ali to convincingly win the bout and move on to a potential clash with Qasim Niaz.
Omar Dusary and Ricky Starkey fought an evenly matched contest with both men having their own successes throughout the fight. Starkey had a point taken off for excessive holding which turned out the be the deciding factor in the bout for Starkey. Referee Darren Sargison scored the bout 57-57 draw.
Ross Cooksey was back in action against tough man Jamie Quinn in a four rounder. Quinn made it difficulty for Cooksey throughout the fight but "The Boss" managed to prevail overall landing the cleaner shots and being the more busier fighter. Ross now moves to 3-0.
James Moorcroft picked up an impressive stoppage win over durable journeyman Dale Arrowsmith in the third round after a great flurry of punches.
It was also a night of debutantes as Adam Ridge, Andrew Fleming, Casey Connelly and Kyle Lomotey all picked up the wins against some of the countries most durable journeyman in Kristian Laight, Curtis Gargano, Jamie Ambler and Youssef Al Hamedi.
