CAN KHAN BRUSH PAST VARGAS?

Tonight, at the Birmingham arena, Amir Khan looks to continue his recent winning ways by taking on Samuel Vargas in a welterweight match up. The card starts at 7pm with the main event looking to be on around 10pm.

Vargas has said that he is no Phil Le Greco and believes he has enough power in both hands to test Khans questionable chin. Whereas Khan on the other hand believes he is in the best shape of his life and has turned a new leaf in his career and looks to give Vargas the most punishing night of his career so far.

Should Khan be victorious he has said that he is eyeing up a mega fight in December and is looking at potential opponents in either Kell Brook or former training partner Manny Pacquiao. A clash with either Brook or Pacquiao would catapult Khans career straight back into the limelight, which in recent years has dimmed after suffering some harsh defeats, most noticeably against Canelo Alvarez who is seen to be one of boxing’s pound for pound best.

Arguments for Khan to fight either Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao are equally as strong. Kell Brook has been a long-time rival and the fight would make for possibly the most anticipated domestic grudge match of the past decade. As for the fight against Pacquiao, the pair have shared the same gym at the famous wildcard boxing gym, the same trainer in Freddie Roach and have even shared the same ring after countless sparring sessions, so this could determine who really was the greatest pupil of Freddie Roach.
