REVIEW: DILLION DISMANTLES DAVE

Liam Dillon gained the vacant BBofC Southern Area Super-Featherweight Title at a packed York Hall on Saturday night, stopping Dave Birmingham in the process.

In what was only his 9th professional contest and still only 23, Dillon stole the show in front of a packed York Hall, dominating from the first bell. Birmingham who has himself only been a professional for 3 years, was extremely tough throughout the contest, taking a lot of punishment before Referee Jeff Hinds stepped in.

Winning only one of his fights by stoppage beforehand, Dillon used his jab consistently well throughout the bout, refusing to get into too much of a slugfest when invited to by Birmingham.

Targeting both the body and face, Dillon arguably deserved to be awarded performance of the night with the question of how long the Londoner's stay at Southern Area title level will be being asked by many immediately.

As well as the above, two other Southern Area title fights took place on Saturday night:

Sean Robinson & Joshua Ejakpovi went the distance in a gripping contest that involved Robinson being dropped in the third.

With both fighters coming into the contest as undefeated, many had the bout close on points going into the final couple of rounds.

Perhaps unluckily, Robinson was awarded the victory with a score or 98-92 in his favour, capturing the Super-Welterweight Southern Area title in the process and extending his professional record to 9-0.

In Cruiserweight action, Daniel Mendes controlled most of his fight against Danny Couzens, coming out on top in a 99-91 to win the first title of his career.
