BARANCHYK CONFIRMS TAYLOR CLASH
After months of uncertainty regarding Josh Taylor-Ivan Baranchyk going ahead, with a month to go it now seems the fight is certain.
The World Boxing Super Series returns to Glasgow on May 18th with what was to be headlined by a blockbuster double bill, Taylor-Baranchyk and Naoya Inoue taking on Emmanuel Rodriguez for the Bantanweight World Title at the semi final stage of the tournament.
Doubts started to emerge, after first reports of financial problems affecting WBSS, which were put to bed by the owners and then that Baranchyk had pulled out of the competition.
Baranchyk won the vacant IBF Super Lightweight title in the quarter final tie against Anthony Yigit last October. His manager Dave McWater then suggested that he had pulled out. WBSS then stated that their contracts were water tight in what seemed a backwards and forwards negotiation. WBSS did say that Baranchyk was unhappy that he had to travel to Taylor's back yard for his first title defence.
Baranchyk has now taken to social media to confirm he will be taking part.

Josh Taylor has responded.

There had been rumours around Glasgow that Josh Taylor would be taking on fellow Scot Ricky Burns if Baranchyk pulled out but this news will please Taylor and the Scottish fans with the news that the world title will be on the line in a huge night for Scottish boxing.
