Jose Felix Jr confirmed as Gary Cullys co-main event opponent for huge Taylor-Cameron bill on May 20

Unbeaten Irish hopeful Gary Cully will face heavy handed Mexican Jose Felix Jr on the historic Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron card at Dublins 3 Arena on May 20. The bout will serve as the co-main event of the evening.
Irishman Cully [16-0, 10 KO's], from Naas in County Kildare, has been on a highly impressive run through the lightweight ranks since his debut in 2017, winning the Irish lightweight title, as well as the WBO European strap at 135lbs. The man nicknamed ‘The Diva’ has displayed a perfect blend of fast hands as well as heavy power on his way to compiling an unblemished record, and many people believe it is only a matter of time before he becomes the latest world champion to come from Eddie Hearns Matchroom Boxing stable.
Cully took to social media on Wednesday morning to express his delight at having an opponent confirmed for the huge bill:
"🇮🇪 v 🇲🇽 Co-Headline to one of the biggest sporting events in Irish history. Bout to become a star on May 20th ⭐️ DONT BLINK 💥 #17-0"
@BoxerCully
Many names had been rumoured to be standing in the opposite corner to Cully on May 20th, such as Giovani Staffon, Maxi Hughes and Angel Fierro, as well as former world champions George Kambosos Jr. and Jorge Linares, however it is the veteran Mexican Felix Jr [39-6-2, 30 KO’s] who has gotten the call.

Felix Jr is no stranger to Irish opposition, having squared off against Belfast man Tyrone McKenna back in August of 2021, coming up on the wrong side of an exciting decision loss. He has also shared the ring with the likes of Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and Mikey Garcia conqueror Sandor Martin during his near-fifteen year professional career.
Although Cully will be a strong favourite, Felix Jr will be sure to provide quite a stern examination of the promising Irish hopeful, and a stoppage victory for Cully will send out another statement of intent regarding his place in the pecking order of a stacked lightweight division.
